From February 23 to 25, the German-Central Asian Forum on Higher Education and Science was held in Halle, Germany, aimed at developing cooperation in education, science, and innovation. The forum events were organized at the headquarters of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina.
On February 23, a roundtable discussion was held with Markus Pleyer, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology, and Space, and the ambassadors of Central Asian states to Germany. Following the meeting, a Joint Statement of Intent on Cooperation in Science, Research, and Innovation within the Z5+1 format was signed, aimed at deepening the long-term partnership. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Germany B. Rejepov signed the document on behalf of Turkmenistan.
In his speech, the Turkmen diplomat noted Turkmenistan's achievements in higher education and science and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Germany and the countries of Central Asia.
Participants were particularly interested in the presentation by Manfred Nawroth, Vice President of the German Cultural Council and Deputy Managing Director of the German Archaeological Association, who noted the significant contribution of German scientists to archaeological research in Central Asia. In particular, the significance and uniqueness of Turkmenistan's archaeological sites—Nusay, Gonurdepe, and Merv—were emphasized.
The forum discussed the implementation of joint research projects, academic mobility, support for young scientists, and the introduction of innovative solutions.
