A video conference meeting was held at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan with female parliamentarians from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. During the online meeting on March 5, participants were briefed on the priority areas of Turkmenistan's peaceful domestic and foreign policy, as well as the structure and activities of the national Parliament. It was also noted that mutually beneficial cooperation is expanding in new directions with international organizations, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The parties emphasized that inter-parliamentary dialogue has become a vital component in deepening cooperation between the two nations, and the establishment of bilateral inter-parliamentary friendship groups increases opportunities for exchanging experience in legislative work and developing parliamentary diplomacy.
The female parliamentarians of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan noted with satisfaction the high representation of women in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. Highlighting the role of young women in public administration, they described it as a significant achievement in ensuring gender equality and modernizing the work of state institutions in the country.
During the online meeting, the importance of measures and meetings conducted to ensure gender equality and protect women's rights was underscored. Furthermore, to enhance the effectiveness of inter-parliamentary relations, the necessity of establishing regular engagement between young and female parliamentarians was highlighted. It was emphasized that this initiative would contribute to enriching the friendly relations between the two countries with new substance and further developing cooperation.
