On March 21, a nationwide tree-planting campaign took place in Turkmenistan. The aim of this large-scale environmental event, which has become a good tradition, is to transform the beloved Motherland into a flourishing garden and to promote the formation of environmental culture in society.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the nationwide planting of saplings in Ashgabat. The festive atmosphere of the event was enhanced by performances of masters of the arts.
After planting a tree, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave the start to the greening campaign.
During the event, the Head of State spoke with several Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Deputy Prime Minister T. Atahallyev informed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov about the progress of the large-scale nationwide greening campaign unfolding across the country.
Noting that planting saplings is of great importance for improving the environmental situation, the Head of State instructed that issues of environmental protection, comprehensive greening of the country, and proper care of previously planted trees be kept under constant control.
Then Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Annammammedov reported on the measures being taken to improve the capital and maintain cleanliness on its territory, as well as on the progress of construction work.
Emphasizing the need for further development of Ashgabat and adherence to sanitary and hygienic standards in the capital, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave a number of relevant instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister.
During the nationwide greening campaign, 611,962 saplings were planted across the country. In addition, alongside cleaning and improvement works in parks and forest areas, a total of 2,024,240 trees received maintenance.
On that day, as in all parts of the country, the spring tree-planting season was also launched in the new city established on the initiative and with the support of Hero Arkadag, which serves as a magnificent example of national architecture. The participation of Hero Arkadag in the nationwide greening campaign, held during the widely celebrated International Day of Nowruz, further increased the significance of the event.
