A delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov is taking part in the 6th meeting of foreign ministers of the countries participating in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), akorda.kz reports.During the meeting, participants discuss security issues and further development of regional economic cooperation, as well as the situation in Afghanistan, including the possibility of providing assistance to the Afghan people in order to prevent a humanitarian crisis.
A meeting of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with the heads of delegations participating in the 6th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers has already taken place in the presidential palace of Kazakhstan.CICA is a pan-Asian dialogue platform for discussing regional problems and developing practical cooperation. The economic, military-political, humanitarian and environmental dimensions, as well as the sphere of new challenges and threats, have been identified as five main areas of interaction.The CICA Forum was established on the initiative of Kazakhstan in 1992. Its activities are aimed at creating conditions for dialogue, decision-making and implementation of measures in the field of ensuring security in Asia. CICA members are 27 states of the region. Nine countries, including Turkmenistan and five international organizations, participate in it as observers. Since 2014, the headquarters of the CICA has been located in the capital of Kazakhstan.
