Turkmenistan presented the country's experience in the field of human rights protection in the digital environment at a forum in Baku.

The Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan — Ombudsman Yazdursun Gurbanazarova — took part on June 18, 2026 in the international ombudsmen summit on the topic "Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities," which was held in Baku. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The participants exchanged views on the influence of artificial intelligence on human rights, the emerging ethical challenges and responsibilities in the context of the rapid development of digital technologies.

During her address, the Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan shared Turkmenistan's experience in the field of human rights protection in the digital environment, the development of digital literacy and the enhancement of the role of ombudsman institutions in these processes.

It was noted that in Turkmenistan special attention is paid to expanding opportunities for women in the field of technology. Support for the participation of girls and women in obtaining technical education and mastering modern professions contributes to the formation of a more just and balanced society.

Following the results of the summit, the participants adopted the Baku Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights.
