On January 19, 2023, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted a round table on the topic "Directions of mutual cooperation and development of the transport and logistics complex of Turkmenistan and Russia". It was attended by representatives of transport agencies and logistics companies of the two countries.
During the meeting, parties discussed prospects and new opportunities for the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia in topical areas.
Merdan Byashimov, General Director of the Open Joint Stock Company "Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan", noted in his speech that currently Turkmenistan pays great attention to improving the logistics infrastructure, and, in this regard, a lot of work is being done to increase the volume of transit and export-import cargo. One of the important transport routes is the eastern branch of the international transport route "North-South", connecting Turkmenistan and Russia by rail. The development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics between the two countries will contribute to the intensification of cargo turnover along this route.
