A delegation from Turkmenistan is visiting the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

On February 24, 2026, a working visit by a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland began.

On the morning of February 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez, to discuss cooperation in maritime transport and international shipping.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that strengthening ties with international organizations in the transport sector is a current priority. In this area, Turkmenistan consistently cooperates with a number of relevant international organizations, including the International Maritime Organization.
In this context, it was noted that the country is systematically working to ensure compliance with international conventions in the field of maritime transport, implement modern navigation safety standards, and develop a regulatory framework that takes into account international obligations.

During the meeting, the importance of active interaction with the United Nations was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to further develop a constructive dialogue with the International Maritime Organization and implement joint projects in the area of ​​sustainable and safe maritime transport.
