On March 20, at a government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov presented a comprehensive set of proposals to expand cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
In particular, it was proposed to prepare a final version of the new strategy for Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the bank for 2026–2030, which will serve as a basis for attracting capital investments into both the public and private sectors. It was also proposed to establish a working commission, including representatives of the country’s financial and economic bloc, to coordinate joint projects.
In line with the “Global Gateway” strategy, it was deemed appropriate to hold negotiations with the EBRD in the near future to attract foreign investments to Turkmenistan.
For these purposes, in March–April of this year, it was proposed to prepare a working plan for expanding Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the EBRD with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Bank for Foreign Economic Activity.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, having approved the proposed directions for expanding cooperation with the EBRD, instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to carry out the corresponding work on these issues.
