The Belgian airline Air Belgium is preparing to launch air cargo transportation via Ashgabat International Airport, with the first flights tentatively expected to begin in early August. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium.
The preparations for launching cargo service were discussed by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, and the CEO of Air Belgium, Georges Chachaty, during a meeting at the airline's head office.
Georges Chachaty noted the logistical and transport significance of Ashgabat International Airport, emphasizing that the airport has the necessary conditions for stable, safe, and efficient handling of air cargo, including refueling and technical support capabilities. He also noted the attractiveness of the conditions offered by Turkmenistan to international air carriers and logistics operators.
In turn, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan noted that the country is consistently strengthening its role as a stable, safe, and cooperation-oriented link in the transport chain between Asia and Europe. The diplomat also emphasized that the development of aviation logistics is an important part of the country's overall strategy to expand international transport connectivity and diversify cargo routes.
