A high-level round table on the topic "The Trans-Caspian Corridor as a Factor in Strengthening the Strategic Autonomy of the European Union" was held in the European Parliament building in Brussels. Member of the European Parliament Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fazilov, and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko spoke at the opening of the round table. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium.
Sapar Palvanov noted that under modern conditions, transport connectivity has ceased to be an exclusively technical issue. According to him, today it is directly linked to the resilience of supply chains, diversification of routes, and the ability of states to maintain reliable connections in a rapidly changing international environment.
Sapar Palvanov also noted that for Turkmenistan, the Trans-Caspian direction is a natural and important part of the national transport policy. He emphasized that the geographical location of Turkmenistan creates not only opportunities but also responsibility: a country located at the intersection of key transport routes must be not just a transit territory, but a reliable, predictable, and efficient partner.
During the event, the participants highly appreciated the growing role of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route in strengthening ties between the European Union, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the wider Eurasian space. It was emphasized that this route is important not only for trade and logistics, but also for the resilience of supply chains, economic interconnectedness, regional cooperation, and long-term partnership between Europe and Central Asia.
